The Oster Inspire 250 Watt Hand Mixer
Filed under: Cooking, Food & Wine

I can’t imagine trying to get by in the kitchen without a hand or stand mixer, but that’s just what I’ve been doing for the last couple of months. My old mixer broke and I kept forgetting about it until I went to make something that I needed it for, and there I was with a bowl full of ingredients and nothing but a whisk to whip it all together. I did try my kitchen blender a few times, but that got a little bit messy and I couldn’t always fit everything I needed in it. Finally I bought the new Oster Inspire 250 Watt Hand Mixer and my baking projects are so much easier now. (Continue reading…)

Brilliant Blue Butterfly Necklace for Spring
Filed under: Shopping

This brilliant blue butterfly necklace is a wonderful harbinger of springtime. This will be the second year I’ve worn mine, and the number of comments I get from people would fill a small book! “Where did you find that?” “How much did it cost?” “Who made it?” and so forth. I decided it was time to let the butterfly out of the bag, so to speak. I figure if this many people are interested in my jewelry right in my hometown that a lot more would be asking me about it if only they saw it! (Continue reading…)

One of my personal favorites is Belgian Waffles topped with strawberry sauce and fresh whipped cream. Brush Up on Dog Grooming Tools
Filed under: Pets

The Brush Buddy is a dog brush and towel in one neat package.  It is perfect for keeping your home and your dog clean and tidy.  This ingenious grooming tool brushes, cleans, dries and massages your canine pal and all you need to do is place your hands into the mitten pouches at either end of the towel brush and start moving your hands all over the dog.  Start gently until your dog gets used to the idea and take it from there.  Loose hair, dirt and debris will be removed from your dog’s coat and skin.  There are flexible, soft rubber bristles that penetrate the coat and stimulate circulation and distribution of natural oils in the animal’s coat.  Because of its pliable construction, hard to reach and sensitive areas on your dog are easy to groom and the bristles attract hair magnetically while the absorbent terry cloth pulls moisture from the dog’s coat.  And because this handy groomer is a compact design you are able to store and transport it readily.  Keep one at home and one in the car and even take one with you in your pack for when you’ve finished your romps in the river. (Continue reading…)

Fun For Family Funny Frog Golf Headcover

My son-in-law loves golf. He is a serious golfer even though he only gets to be on the green a few times a year. He prides himself in being a pretty good hitter in the top 1% according to him. Me, I don’t play golf so I have no clue, so I will be a good mother-in-law and take his word for it. In fact I will be his number one fan!

I saw this Funny Frog Golf Headcover and it cracked me up. I thought that this was the perfect gift for a serious guy. I think it will remind him not to take himself so seriously and to lighten up when he slices a ball or misses altogether when teeing off. Oh - that’s me not him! I guess its so cute I getter get it for myself and I think I can put it on my umbrella next to the back door to remind me to lighten up when I see it clouding up outside.

What I like best about this and other animal golf headcovers I’ve purchased from TheGolfCollection.com is that they really provide good protection for your clubs along with making a funny statement. You might want to check them out soon for your favorite golfer.

Relaxing and De-Stressing Through Jazz Music
Filed under: Music, Art & Culture

Recently, I have been quite interested in jazz music because it is very soothing and allows me to clear my mind at the end of a particularly stressful workday. I’ve also found that is helps me relax when I am driving in the midst of an irritating traffic jam or experiencing road rage. Although it is often hard for me to find the name of a song I hear on the radio to download for later listening, I am able to focus on enjoying the song for the moment.

I also listen to jazz music when I am doing yoga in the morning because it helps me really get into the mood and perform my best in order to prepare for the day ahead. During previous years, I had been a clarinet player and have since really grown to love the sound of a clarinet in a jazz piece. It reminds me of the times when I was in my high school’s band, and has led me to consider learning how to play some pieces of jazz music on my clarinet again. Overall, I feel that jazz music allows for my body and mind to be fully connected.

Wedding Music
Filed under: Music, Art & Culture

We often get involved with brides-to-be planning their weddings.  As mosts couples get married in a church, they often have to work with the church organ.  While we often see couples come in a bit disappointed with the organ choice, we realize that perception is rooted in a poor organ music choices church congregations often make and a lack of knowledge of some of the fine works of art - music - that were written especially for the organ.

Once we show them what a good organ can produce in terms of music for their wedding, they not only perk up, they absolutely beam. And we get such pleasure playing for weddings.  The march of the bridesmaids and the groom standing with his groomsmen at the alter.  The beautiful bride in all her wedding gown finery and veil.

Come visit with us if you need some glorious organ music selections for your wedding.

It’s Spring and the Robbins have returned
Filed under: Music, Art & Culture

It’s no surprise that I’m glad winter is done.  It’s stayed far too long this year and I am happy that spring has finally arrived.  So to have the Robbins with their beautiful musical songs.  Every morning as I sit at my desk I can look out my window and hear and see Robbins everywhere.

Robbins are not the only birds providing music in the spring.  The Cardinals who bravely winter over here in the Great Plains where I live chime in and so to the Sparrows, Finches, Meadow Larks and many other birds.

But it’s the Robbins who provide me the best Spring Music because when the Robbins come back each year I know winter is finished.
