No Bonsai Garden is Complete Without a Ginkgo Biloba
Filed under: Home Decor

Why should you add a Ginkgo Biloba outdoor bonsai tree to your bonsai collection? Well, the Ginkgo Biloba is actually the oldest living species of tree in the world, and if you’re really going to a great bonsai garden, you absolutely need to have one. It’s a very nice bonsai, especially if you add two or three together to make a small grove of Ginkgo Biloba. This bonsai, also called the Maidenhair tree or the “Tree of Forty Gold Crowns” (the Chinese named it that because of how its leaves look). Few bonsai can really be grown in groves like the Ginkgo Biloba, giving you another reason to add one to your bonsai collection. It’s a very beautiful bonsai that is sure to draw compliments from all of your guests.

The Ginkgo Biloba is a very hardy bonsai, but it’s still going to need protection from the cold. It may also need protection from spider mites, the major pest that infects bonsai trees. If you see small red specks among your grove, you’ve got spider mites. You’ll need to seek out special sprays to use to kill these mites. When spraying, be sure to coat the underside of the leaves—that’s where most spider mites live.
